Nearly 1 in 4 adults received mental health treatment in 2021

Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin reported increased demand for help with anxiety and depression and has expanded services to meet the growing need. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports nearly 22% of adults got mental health treatment in 2021, up from about 19% in 2019. The largest increase in those receiving treatment came from adults under 45 years old.

GHC Foundations Intensive Outpatient Program, which launched one year ago, doubled its capacity in September to meet the increased demand for mental health services. The program includes a two-week running curriculum between two to three weeks, or 10 to 15 sessions. Every participant meets with an individual therapist and a psychiatrist at least once weekly.
