As of April 18, another 4.427 million workers filed for unemployment benefits nationwide, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Economists were expecting 4.5 million initial jobless claims to be filed for the week. Over the past five weeks, more than 26.5 million unemployment insurance claims have been filed.
