Middleton’s National Mustard Museum could close in May if curator and owner Barry Levenson fails to sway a Dane County committee to forgive about $124,000 still outstanding on a 10-year, $200,000 loan received from the county’s Community Development Block Grant Commission.
The loan, part of a revolving fund financed by federal HUD funds, was provided when the museum relocated to Middleton from Mount Horeb in 2010.
If the county commission agrees to Levenson’s request, the Mustard Museum could be sold at a much-reduced price of $40,000 to the museum’s store manager, according to a story in the Wisconsin State Journal.
