The new owners of the music streaming platform Murfie, which abruptly closed late last year, say they are committed to restarting the service and preserving all of the customers’ musical assets.
According to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal, Murfie and all of its assets have been purchased by Crossies.com, and the collection of records and CDs has been transferred to its warehouse in Arkansas.
Murfie, whose closing was linked to debt exceeding cash on hand, had collected hundreds of thousands of discs, many of which were owned by its customers and sent to the company to be digitized and made available for streaming or downloading. In a letter from founder John Fenley, Crossies states that it is committed to restarting the service and will honor Murfie’s customer return policy for up to five years.
