MPD holds 1st Public Safety Summit

The Madison Police Department (MPD) on Tuesday held its inaugural Public Safety Summit at the Warner Park Recreation Center, WKOW reports. Other agencies in attendance included Public Health Madison and Dane County, Dane County Human Services, and Madison Parks.

Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway recognized progress against crime in Madison and shared that homicides are down 75%, while robberies, aggravated assaults, and stolen autos are down 30%, 14%, and 35%, respectively.

Police Chief Shon Barnes asked community members to share feedback with MPD, some of which included improving traffic and patrol on bike paths and maintaining police accountability.
