MPD arrests Edgewood College student after discovering firearm in room

On Tuesday evening, an Edgewood College student reported being physically assaulted by another student in the area of Wingra Café. Madison Police were called to campus and responded promptly.

In the course of their investigation into the incident, officers conducted a room search and found an unloaded firearm and ammunition in the residence hall room of the alleged assailant. Madison Police placed that student under arrest in connection with unlawful possession of a firearm on campus. The other student who was involved did not require medical attention.

Edgewood’s Student Development team has taken the appropriate emergency measures to temporarily remove the student who was arrested from campus, and its security and tudent development staff are working in cooperation with authorities. They are also working with the victim and all who were involved to ensure their well-being.
