A fine dining Italian restaurant that opened just six months ago in Mount Horeb is now closed, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. Bar Manzo, located in the building formerly home to Skal Public House, “simply ran out of money,” owner Nathan Mergen said.

Mergen cited trouble finding staff in Mount Horeb among reasons behind Bar Manzo’s closure on Dec. 1. Mergen said the initial plan was to “pivot and reinvest in the space,” but the numbers ultimately did not pan out.

107 State, a restaurant on Madison’s State Street, is also owned by Mergen and is reportedly doing well.
