UW-Madison-based nonprofit Morgridge Institute for Research announced on Tuesday that CEO Brad Schwartz is retiring after 13 years in charge, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.

The Morgridge Institute is a private biomedical research hub housed in the taxpayer-supported Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery.

During his tenure, the institute was able to bring over 400 scientists across campus together for aging and diabetes research and bring new technology into the nonprofit, like a cryo-electron microscopy, an imaging tool.

He plans to stay until a successor is found through a national search.
