As part of his 2025 I’m The Problem tour, Morgan Wallen, along with Miranda Lambert and Ella Langley, will perform at Camp Randall Stadium on June 28. The tour will cover 10 cities and 19 stadiums.
After not hosting a concert since 1997, this is the second music act announced in recent months that will take place at Camp Randall. A Coldplay show is scheduled for July 19, and promoters have expressed hope that there will be more to come, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
The last musical act to take the stage at Camp Randall was The Rolling Stones nearly two decades ago. That year saw two major concerts, with U2 also performing at the venue for a second time. However, neither event was a huge draw — U2 sold just 34,002 tickets, while The Rolling Stones attracted 27,087 attendees.
But concerts are making a comeback at the stadium in 2025, in part due to the Wisconsin athletic department’s efforts to diversify its revenue streams. With a potential settlement of federal antitrust lawsuits against the NCAA and major conferences expected in April, schools may soon be allowed to pay athletes directly. The Badgers are preparing for an estimated $20.5 million expenditure on athlete compensation in the 2025–26 season.
Despite this, revenue from concerts will only make a small dent in that financial commitment. Wisconsin will receive a $200,000 rental fee for the Coldplay concert, along with $320,000 to cover expenses such as staffing and security. As of Friday, it remained unclear whether the same fee structure would apply to the upcoming Morgan Wallen concert.
According to Downtown Madison Inc., the Coldplay concert is expected to generate $3 million in tourism-related economic activity and contribute $10 million to the local economy. Jason Ilstrup, the organization’s president, noted that the Morgan Wallen show is likely to have an even greater economic impact.
The artist presale will begin on Jan. 30, and presale sign-up is running now–Jan. 28 at 10 p.m. General ticket sales will begin Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. A portion of all ticket sales will benefit the Morgan Wallen Foundation, which supports youth sports and music programming.
