Chicago-based developer Beitler Real Estate is looking to transfer development rights for a hotel that would serve Monona Terrace to Minneapolis-based Mortenson Development, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The proposal changing Judge Doyle Square players states the nine-story, 260-room Embassy Suites hotel on the 200 block of South Pinckney Street would be developed by Mortenson, who would buy the land from the city for $4 million instead of leasing it, and change the number of parking spaces it could lease from the city-owned Wilson Street Garage. For financing to be secured, the deal is dependent on key approvals from the City Council by December.
