A dairy farm in Monroe will pay $120,000 in a settlement due to alleged environmental law violations over a complaint of manure overflow, Wisconsin Public Radio reports.
Dairy farm Spring Valley Holsteins agreed to the settlement in December after allegations that its farm manure storage facility overflowed into a tributary and Moore Creek.
Community members reported dead fish in the creek in May 2024 to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, which found manure and dead fish for about a mile.
It is estimated that around 4,000 gallons of manure spilled from the manure storage facility.
