Hilton Madison Monona Terrace, managed by Marcus Hotels & Resorts, announced Thursday David Mitchel as its new executive chef.
Mitchel will oversee the hotel’s culinary operations, including banquets and catering, menu development and the overall execution of the property’s food and beverage program. This includes running its signature restaurant, The Audrey Kitchen + Bar.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Chef Mitchel to Hilton Madison Monona Terrace as our new executive chef,” Matt Karrow, general manager of the hotel, said in a statement. “Chef Mitchel brings his passion for cooking and distinguished service to the role, helping elevate food and beverage operations throughout the hotel. His arrival comes at an exciting time, with Madison Summer Restaurant Week offering the perfect backdrop to showcase his vision and expertise.”
Madison Summer Restaurant Week takes place July 26–31 and is a semi-annual dining event showcasing the city’s culinary scene through prix-fixe menus at various restaurants.
Mitchel developed new offerings for The Audrey Kitchen + Bar’s Madison Summer Restaurant Week lunch and dinner menus.
Mitchel joins the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace with more than 14 years of culinary experience. Most recently, he served as unit chef at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he led operations at Liz’s Market.
Greg Marcus, who leads the Marcus Cinema portion of the Marcus Corporation, said in an interview with In Business Madison that the company is “actually still probably one of the largest food service companies in the state, but not standalone restaurants,” thanks to its full-service hotels.
