Topgolf’s proposed golf entertainment center along the Beltline was approved by the Monona Plan Commission on Monday, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The $30 million project is set to open in 2026 and would be the first Wisconsin location for the Dallas-based company, which has 90 golf complexes in 36 states and 10 outside the U.S.

The commission also voted in favor of a modified signage plan for the project, which would be located on 16 acres at 5600 Gilholt Drive. It will include 11.5 acres for the golf complex and set aside the remaining land for future development. Five buildings on the western end of the WPS campus and in a neighboring office park would be replaced with the 36,000-square-foot, two-story golf complex. It would have 72 hitting bays usable year-round, as well as a restaurant and bar, an event space, and an outdoor patio.

The Plan Commission discussed reconfiguring lots on the property with a new survey map; if approved next month, the map would go to the City Council for approval. Tax incremental financing is being considered and would require Community Development Authority and City Council approval.

Topgolf plans to begin construction on the project next year.
