The Monona City Council this month adopted an ordinance that stipulates new vape shops must be at least 750 feet away from schools, other vape shops, and public places like parks and playgrounds, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

Set to take effect Thursday, the zoning ordinance replaces a temporary moratorium that began in May on new vape, or electronic cigarette, shops. The ban followed the openings of several new vape shops in recent years, which spurred concerns about youth exposure to vaping.

The measure passed by a 3–2 vote on Feb. 3.
