According to an article in Tuesday’s Wall Street Journal, a second COVID-19 vaccine is scheduled to get emergency use authorization this week, just as the first approved vaccine, from Pfizer-BioNTech, is being rolled out to health care facilities around the nation.
Data on the effectiveness of the second vaccine, produced by the biotech firm Moderna, was to be released today, followed by a public hearing Thursday. Data will include the findings of a 30,000-person clinical study of the company’s vaccine along with the FDA’s analysis.
