MMSD logs improved reading, math scores

Test results released Thursday by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction showed a slight improvement in reading and math scores across the Madison Metropolitan School District last year, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.

On the recently retooled Forward Exam, 48.1% of students in grades three-eight scored well enough in reading to be considered proficient or advanced for their grade level. That figure was 47.5% for the 2023-24 school year.

In math, 43.3% of students were proficient or advanced, compared to 43.1% the prior year.
