The Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) released the following statement on a Dane County judge’s recent ruling to restore collective bargaining rights cut by Act 10:

“The recent court ruling regarding portions of Wisconsin’s Act 10 has raised questions about collective bargaining and labor rights. MMSD is monitoring legal developments and the potential implications of this decision. In addition, staff are carefully reviewing the ruling’s specifics and working to understand its full impact on district practices and its relationship to the labor unions representing our staff.

“MMSD will stay informed about legal proceedings, consult with legal counsel to understand the precise implications of the ruling, and ensure that changes, if any, are implemented thoughtfully and transparently.

“Districts across the state are waiting on a final order from the court, which is key to determining the next steps for any work that will need to be done.”
