MMSD breaking ground on Phase 1 of its facilities referendum work

The Madison Metropolitan School District is hosting a groundbreaking to kick off the facilities work on Sherman Middle and Malcolm Shabazz City High schooland Samuel Gompers Elementary and Black Hawk Middle schools. 

This construction phase is expected to take place through the summer of 2027, which will result in two new buildings. 

The public celebration is at 10:30 a.m. (Sherman/Shabazz) and 1 p.m. (Gompers/Black Hawk), on March 30. 

The morning celebration is at Sherman Middle/Malcolm Shabazz City High schools, 1610 Ruskin St., with the second at Samuel Gompers Elementary/Black Hawk Middle schools, 1402 Wyoming Way.
