MMSD among area schools to close amid extreme cold warning

The Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) and dozens of others in the area have cancelled classes today in light of current frigid conditions and an extreme cold warning issued by the National Weather Service, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. Daytime wind chill values are expected to plummet as low as 35 degrees below zero.

Districts in addition to MMSD that will be closed Tuesday include:

  • DeForest;

  • McFarland;

  • Middleton-Cross Plains;

  • Monona Grove;

  • Sun Prairie;

  • Verona; and

  • Waunakee.
