A $30 million mixed-use development by New Year Investments (NYI) has opened in the Eken Park neighborhood, according to a statement from the developer. The project combines a five-story public art mural project, affordable apartment homes, and high visibility ground-floor commercial space. The 135-unit mixed-income residential and commercial community, at 2860 E. Washington Ave., includes one and two-bedroom apartment homes targeted to individuals and families earning 30%, 50%, and up to 80% of Dane County’s median income (currently $92,000 for a couple). Monthly rents, which include internet, range from $470–$1,550. Community amenities include a second-floor rooftop garden terrace with pergolas, grilling and gardening stations, a dog washing station, 135 bike parking spots, and four electric vehicle charging stations. NYI is a Madison-based, woman-owned real estate development firm.
