Mining company GreenLight Wisconsin submitted plans to drill for copper, gold and other metals in northern Wisconsin at 15 sites and 20 holes in a 40-acre piece of land at the Bend deposit, Wisconsin Public Radio reports.

Located in Taylor County near Medford, the Bend deposit is estimated to contain about 4.2 million tons of ore containing copper and gold.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Forest Service will have to approve the mining.

The DNR expects a decision to be made by Jan. 29.
