According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Milwaukee-based Rockwell Automation announced after its second quarter fiscal earnings presentation on May 7 that it will lay off 3% of its global workforce.
The company had projected sales growth of 0.5–6.5% in the first quarter but now says sales may be down 4–6% for the year.
Rockwell has roughly 29,000 employees. More than 50% are outside of the U.S. The 3% workforce reduction represents around 900 employees; it is unclear how many are based in Wisconsin. The company said Rockwell executives will not receive bonuses.
