Just a few weeks after Wells Fargo announced the closure of a downtown Milwaukee home lending services office, terminating 1,000 jobs, comes news from the Milwaukee Business Journal that Assurant Health may also be closed or sold. Assurant’s downtown Milwaukee office employs more than 1,000 workers.
Assurant Inc., the company’s New York City-based parent, reportedly wants to focus more on its lifestyle and home protection services and get out of the benefits and health business segment, which has been losing money, including a reported $63.7 million operating loss in 2014.
