Facing continued declines in sales, MillerCoors LLC is closing its Eden, N.C., brewery by September 2016, and ramping up work at several other facilities, including its Milwaukee operations.
According to the Milwaukee Business Journal, the Eden brewery, which produced 7.1 million barrels of beer, including Blue Moon seasonals, Coors Light, Miller Lite and Miller High Life, was operating less efficiently than a newer facility in Shenandoah, Va., just 200 miles away. While 520 jobs will be lost at the Eden brewery, some of those positions could be added in Milwaukee.
The Milwaukee brewery will take over take over production of Blue Moon seasonal products.
