The return of Midwest Express Airlines in Milwaukee has hit a major roadblock after the Wisconsin airline group severed ties with Portland, Maine-based Elite Airways, the company that had agreed to provide planes and staff for Midwest Express.
The partnership, announced in August 2019, actually was terminated at the end of December, according to a Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel report, and now Midwest Express is seeking the return of a deposit it had paid Elite Airways as part of the deal.
Elite Airways was to provide nonstop flight service from Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport, providing Midwest Express with CRJ200 and CRJ700 aircraft as well as flight crews, attendants, and maintenance service.
Midwest Express officials say they’re continuing fundraising efforts and that the company is in “substantial discussions” with other airline groups.
