Middleton psychiatric hospital Miramont Behavioral Health has been fined $8,370 by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for citations related to a nurse being accidentally stuck with a needle, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
Issued in June, the fine stems from an OSHA inspection in January after the needle stick incident’s occurrence in December. According to the agency, Miramont did not properly record the incident on an injury log, did not maintain a proper injury log, and did not include certain jobs in its exposure control plan.
A Miramont spokesperson said the incident “resulted in no work loss time or any other impacts to patient safety or the hospital’s operations.”
The psychiatric hospital has received several citations from state inspectors in the last year.
