Middleton-based Spectrum’s Q4 earnings exceed expectations

Middleton’s Spectrum Brands Holdings Inc. reported fiscal and fourth-quarter earnings today that beat analysts’ expectations, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

The company posted net income of $16.8 million, or 47 cents per share, for the quarter ending Sept. 30. Adjusted for one-time gains and costs, earnings amounted to $1.36 per share, topping analysts’ projections. Spectrum also reported fourth-quarter revenue of $740.7 million, short of expectations by just over $19 million. The company reported net income of $1.8 billion, or $45.65 per share, on revenue of $2.92 billion for the fiscal year.

One year ago, Spectrum reported net income of $14.8 million, or 36 cents per share, on a revenue of $745.5 million. It reported earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and losses, at 48 cents per share. For the previous fiscal year, the company’s profit was $71.6 million, or $1.75 per share, on revenue of $3.13 billion.
