The Wisconsin Public Service Commission has authorized a 20-megawatt solar farm to be developed in Fitchburg by Madison Gas and Electric, and the PSC will allow the utility to expand a program to sell clean energy to industrial and governmental customers, according to a Wisconsin State Journalreport.

The unanimous decision approved the $31.7 million O’Brien Solar Fields project, a 160-acre site near Seminole Highway and Lacy Road. The operation of the solar farm could begin as early as next summer, with construction beginning this year.
