Metro Transit redesign officials are seeking some quick, modest changes and longer-term ones a month into the project, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

The system redesign, which took effect June 11, is the largest in 25 years. It shifted the system from one that covered many city neighborhoods, relying heavily on transfer points, to one that focuses on main arteries to deliver more consistent and frequent service.

Ridership last month increased 5% as compared to June 2022. Metro has received 600–700 calls per day during the week, about 100–200 more per day than prior to the redesign.

Challenges so far include on-time performance, particularly for longer routes; service from the near east and west sides to the UW Hospital area; inconsistent bus transfer times; street construction; and increased walking distances for riders.
