Meta is cutting about 600 AI jobs

Meta Platforms is cutting 600 jobs in artificial intelligence, the company announced Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

The cuts will affect Meta’s Fundamental AI Research, product-related AI and AI infrastructure units.

Meta is still hiring for its TBD Lab, which develops Meta’s large language models, the technology behind OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini and Meta’s Llama AI.

Llama is a free, open-source AI product. According to Meta, over a billion people use its AI products monthly.
