Meriter-UnityPoint to offer Cologuard

Group Health Cooperative was the first area health care system to approve the use of Cologuard, and now Meriter-UnityPoint has announced it will allow use of the test as well. Meriter Medical Group President Robert Turngren noted that while a colonoscopy will remain the company’s first recommendation for those being tested for colorectal cancer, Cologuard is a non-invasive option for people who are unwilling to undergo the procedure. Cologuard was developed by Madison-based Exact Sciences Corp.
