After rumors swirled that Meriter Health Services would be sold to a local competitor, Meriter’s CEO, Jim Woodward, admitted the company is looking to partner with other health care organizations in a process that could take up to a year.
Meriter’s insurance company, Physicians Plus, lost $30.3 million last year, $10.5 million the year before, and has seen membership decline by 20,000 since 2011, but Woodward says that Meriter Health Services, including Meriter Hospital and Meriter Medical Group, is “well positioned to meet the challenges” of federal health reform.
