Meriter Health Services agreed to pay $82 million in a class-action lawsuit filed in 2010. The suit alleged that Meriter’s pension plan miscalculated benefits for more than 4,000 Meriter employees who received lump-sum pension payments. U.S. District Judge William Conley ruled in favor of Meriter regarding the statute of limitations but did not rule on a claim that Meriter concealed potential tax code violations when calculating the payments.
