Meriter Health Services officially completed its affiliation with UnityPoint Health on Jan. 1. According to a release, UnityPoint Health now has an indirect ownership interest, through Meriter, in Physicians Plus and intends to purchase the stock of Physicians Plus from Meriter later this month.
Meanwhile, two lawsuits filed by Unity Health Plans are still pending. The suits claim the UnityPoint name will be easily confused with the Unity Health Plan name. Unity Health Plan is UW Health’s insurance company and a competitor with Physicians Plus.
