Mercyhealth marketing exec sentenced to 3-1/2 years in prison

A former vice president of marketing for Mercyhealth in Janesville has been sentenced to 3-1/2 years in federal prison for wire fraud and tax evasion, according to a Wisconsin State Journalreport. In a scheme coordinated with a marketing contractor, Barbara Bortner, 57, of Milton defrauded $3.1 million from the hospital and racked up $778,000 in unpaid taxes to the Internal Revenue Service.
