Over 130 workers have been on strike since July 2 following a month and a half of negotiations between union leaders and MercyHealth’s East Clinic, WMTV15 reports.

Wisconsin lawmakers joined labor leaders in front of the state Capitol on Thursday.

The union said MercyHealth management has refused to address patient and employee safety issues, and nurses are striking for better working conditions, pay and benefits.

MercyHealth issued an initial statement in July but has not commented since.
