Mercury Marine announced Monday that it has begun a $20 million expansion of its engineering and product development departments in Fond du Lac.
The outboard engine company, a division of Brunswick Corp., said the project also would expand its manufacturing capacity by the end of 2013.
Mercury Marine is poised to add jobs in all three areas that are slated for expansion. The company already employs about 2,550 people at its Fond du Lac facility, and more than 5,000 worldwide.
In a 2009 labor dispute, Mercury Marine threatened to move its headquarters to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where it had a 700,000-square-foot manufacturing plant. Since resolving the dispute, the company has sold the Stillwater plant and moved that work to Fond du Lac.
