Madison’s Men’s Emergency Drop-In Shelter is under strain due to recent resident increases and a simultaneous drop in funding, Channel3000 reports. The shelter, open year-round, provides basic necessities like food and sleeping accommodations.

The shelter is seeing an average of 250–300 residents per night. According to the shelter’s director, a decline in donations, along with the shelter’s decreasing capability of obtaining federal, county, and city grants, has caused a deficit in the shelter’s budget.

The new permanent men’s shelter is still anticipated to be up and running by 2025.
