Several months after Kohl’s Corp. rejected a bid to move to downtown Milwaukee, the Village of Menomonee Falls, where the retailer is now headquartered, is prepared to purchase two vacant parcels of land that Kohl’s has considered for a new, expanded facility, according to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The village board met Monday night to consider approving an $800,000 purchase agreement for parcels of 19 and 14.1 acres now owned by HRH Acquisitions, LLC, an investment group led by Milwaukee developer Doug Weas.

Village officials have not confirmed the acquisition would be made to accommodate a new headquarters for Kohl’s, the village’s largest employer.

Menomonee Falls already has approved a $41 million in tax incremental financing district to pave the way for Kohl’s move to the Woodland Prime Business Park.
