Medica and SSM Health finalize strategic partnership, name president

Health organizations Medica and SSM Health have finalized their strategic relationship, according to a joint release. Medica will invest in Madison-based Dean Health Plan, a subsidiary of SSM Health. The two companies will maintain their respective health plan brands and products, which include those under the Medica name, along with Dean Health Plan, Prevea360, and WellFirst Health. Dave Docherty, who served as chief growth officer for Dean Health Plan, has been named president for this new joint venture. Necessary regulatory approvals have been received and the effective date for the partnership was Dec. 1.
