The Madison Children’s Museum is slated to lay off a number of staff as a result of federal funding cuts, Channel3000 reports.
Charlotte Cummins, the museum’s director, stated that the nonprofit laid off 13 employees after a 5% to 10% cut to its operational budget — approximately $400,000.
According to the museum, the majority of the cuts came from the National Endowment for Humanities and the Institute of Museums and Library Services. Cummins said in addition to reduced staff, the museum will have reduced programming as well.
The museum is reportedly in a good position to operate after budget cuts this fiscal year and will prioritize its core programs.
