MCM gets $2.5M for new exhibit, projects

Madison Children’s Museum will undertake projects centered on positive character development in children and youth thanks to a five-year, $2.5 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The initiative is funding 15 children’s museums nationwide.

The grant will allocate:

  • $1.5 million for a major new third-floor exhibit, including programming, community listening sessions, research, design, and fabrication;

  • $676,000 to support museum staff work in researching, planning, designing, and implementing project deliverables;

  • $140,000 to expand museum outreach, including buying a new electric van and installing an EV charging station; and

  • $125,000 to continue on-site research partnerships with UW–Madison, which include work with the Center of Healthy Minds, Departments of Psychology and Neuropsychology, Department of Curriculum & Instruction, and the Social Kids Lab.
