Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway is stripping north side Ald. Charles Myadze of his committee assignments and on Wednesday proposed the appointment of a different council member to each of the five committees on which Myadze now serves, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The news comes amid allegations against Myadze of sexual harassment and assault.
Three weeks ago, an independent investigation found that the allegations of sexual harassment made against Myadze by three women, including a council member, were credible, but that he did not violate city rules or state or federal laws. The council two weeks ago moved to censure Myadze, which would not remove him from office but is an unprecedented action. Rhodes-Conway cosponsored the censure resolution.
The committee replacements put forward by Rhodes-Conway include:

Ald. Dina Nina Martinez-Rutherford, 15th District, for the Alcohol License Review Committee;

Ald. Jael Currie, 16th District, for the Board of Park Commissioners;

Ald. MGR Govindarajan, 8th District, for the Greater Madison Metropolitan Planning Organization;

Ald. Nikki Conklin, 9th District, for the Sister City Collaboration Committee; and

Ald. Regina Vidaver, 5th District, for the Water Utility Board.
