Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway announced a proposal for a one-time payment to recognize the work of city employees throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and to help them offset inflation costs. The funds come from a surplus in the city’s premium stabilization fund for employee life insurance and disability programs. If approved by the Madison Common Council, payments of up to $1,000 per employee would be provided by the end of February 2023.
