Maxwell Street Days on Thursday returned to Madison and will run through this weekend, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The summer tradition has historically drawn thousands of visitors to State Street, although the landscape has changed, with the street’s restaurants and bars now far outnumbering its retailers.
Fifty-two business are taking part in this year’s Maxwell Street Days, which runs today–Saturday from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Lisa Link Peace Park will host family activities on Saturday from noon–2 p.m. and music from 3–5 p.m.
Over one-third of the businesses taking part in Maxwell Street Days this year are bars and restaurants, rather than typical retailers, according to the event’s host, the Greater State Street Business Association.
