As the White House and U.S. Department of Education invite colleges and universities across the country to sign up for the COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge, MATC and UW are launching efforts, according to multiple reports. Madison College is one of 14 Wisconsin colleges or universities taking part in the challenge, which aims to increase the number of students, faculty, and staff who are vaccinated. The college will be holding free vaccination sessions at the Truax campus during its “WolfPack Welcome” orientations on Aug. 23–24. The University of Wisconsin System announced it will award $7,000 scholarships to 70 students who get the shot and attend a campus that reaches a 70% vaccination rate. All UW campuses except Madison are participating in the “70 for 70” campaign.
