Jere Fabick, a Republican donor, has asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court to issue a temporary injunction to block the mask mandate issued by Gov. Tony Evers on Feb. 4, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.
Fabick and other Republicans argue that Evers exceeded his authority by issuing multiple public health emergencies due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was required to get legislative approval to extend a health emergency beyond 60 days if it’s for the same event. The governor contends the changing conditions of the pandemic made the new health orders a necessity and he was within his power to issue the mask requirement. Nearly 60 organizations opposed the repeal of the mask mandate.
