Marten Transport profits jump 22.4%

For the ninth consecutive quarter, Marten Transport has reported year over year profit growth, as net income grew 22.4% in the second quarter of 2012.

Marten Transport, based in Mondovi, Wis., said net income grew to $7.6 million, or 34 cents per diluted share, for the second quarter. That’s up from $6.2 million, or 28 cents per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2011.

The company also reported strong gains for the six-month period ending June 20, 2012, as net income increased 26.6% to $13.0 million, or 59 cents per diluted share, from $10.3 million, or 47 cents per diluted share, in the same period of 2011.

Operating revenue, which consists of revenue from truckload and logistics operations, increased to $157 million in the second quarter of 2012 from $151.1 million in the second quarter of 2011, and increased to $308.4 million in the 2012 six-month period from $289.0 million in the same period of 2011.
