Wall Street leaned toward miniscule gains before the bell today ahead of the Fourth of July holiday, the Associated Press reports. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose less than 0.1%, and futures for the S&P 500 were essentially flat before markets open in what will be a shortened trading day. Markets will be closed Thursday.
Paramount Global jumped another 13% in off-hours trading as more reports surfaced that a deal to merge with movie production company Skydance Media was imminent.
Tesla was also headed for more gains after Elon Musk’s electric car company beat sales expectations on Tuesday. Tesla rose 2.3% before the bell, following gains of more than 10% Tuesday and 6% Monday.
U.S. benchmark crude added was unchanged at $82.81 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude, the international standard, gained 7 cents to $86.31 per barrel.
The U.S. dollar rose to 161.91 Japanese yen on Wednesday from 161.44 yen late Tuesday.
