A man has agreed to plead guilty to the firebombing of a Madison anti-abortion advocacy group’s office last year, according to Channel3000. Hridindu Sankar Roychowdhury, 29, will face a minimum of five and maximum of 20 years imprisonment under the Antiterrorism Act of 1996.
Roychowdhury allegedly set fire to the Wisconsin Family Action office on Madison’s north side on May 8, 2022 after a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion pointed to the court’s likely decision to overturn landmark Roe v. Wade. Molotov cocktails were reportedly found inside the office suite along with a spray-painted message on the building’s side.
Earlier this year, Roychowdhury was arrested at Boston Logan International Airport as he attempted to board a one-way flight to Guatemala. DNA evidence from a food item discarded by Roychowdhury allegedly matched DNA found on one of the Molotov cocktails at the office. Two others’ DNA were also found on one of the Molotov cocktails, but those people have not been identified.
